DESCRIPTION

Our MSPR metric metal piston rings are manufactured from cast iron, conforming to SAE J929 specifications. The material is specially alloyed to provide the best combination of wear characteristics, temperature stability and impact strength for most standard applications.

MSPR metric metal piston rings advantages are that they are bi-directional, can pass over ports without port-clipping, compensates for ring and cylinder wear, and can be used in pressures up to 5,000 PSI.

When using iron piston rings, it is crucial to use the correct groove design for proper performance of the cylinder. Please use the following guidelines when cutting an iron piston ring groove.

SEAL INFORMATION

GROOVE WIDTH: TO PERMIT THE RING TO SLIDE FREELY INTO THE GROOVE, THE GROOVE MUST BE AT LEAST 0.03MM WIDER THAN THE MAXIMUM PISTON RING WIDTH WITH A TOLERANCE OF +0.8MM/-0.00MM

GROOVE DEPTH: GROOVES MUST BE AT LEAST 0.38MM DEEPER THAN THE MAXIMUM RADIAL WALL THICKNESS OF THE PISTON RIHG WITH A TOLERANCE OF +0.08MM/-0.00MM. THIS IS TO AVOID ANY POSSIBILITY OF THE RING BOTTOMING IN THE GROOVE WHEN THE RING IS COMPRESSED TO ITS WORKING DIAMETER.

RADIAL CLEARANCE: THE RADIAL CLEARNACE BETWEEN THE CYLINDER BORE AND PISTON SHOULD BE LESS THAN 1/3 OF THE RADIAL WALL THICKNESS OF THE PISTON RING TO ENSURE SEALING EFFECTIVENESS.
